Live in Danforth Village

Danforth Village is well-known for its shopping district along Danforth Avenue. The community's many shops and restaurants reflect the diverse ethnic flavour of the residents who live there. The convenience of the Bloor-Danforth subway line makes this neighbourhood a preferred choice for trendy young first-time homebuyers. Historically, land north of the Danforth was owned by the Church of England and south of the Danforth by families engaged in farming or brick-making. The main thoroughfare was named after Asa Danforth, an American contractor who oversaw the building of Kingston Road in 1799. The typical Danforth Village home was built between 1920-30. Streets in the area are lined with semi-detached homes with distinctive front porches as well as Victorian semis, bungalows and newer townhouses.
