Live in the Upper Beach

The Upper Beach is a trendy neighbourhood directly north of The Beach, stretching from Coxwell to Victoria Park and from Kingston Road north to the CNR tracks between Gerrard St. and Danforth Ave.  Historically settled as the postal Village of Norway, it was also a stagecoach stop for those travelling between Toronto and Kingston. In 1909, the village was annexed to the expanding City of Toronto and became home to a number of industrial sites, which were eventually replaced by large housing developments. It is one of a group of historically rich neighbourhoods that have been snapped up by middle class couples and families. Many of the turn of the century homes were designed in unique high Victorian Gothic, Edwardian and Toronto bungalow architectures. More modern homes (2002 and later) are found in the Upper Beach Estates, northeast of Main/Gerrard.
