Live in Clairlea-Birchmount

Clairlea was formerly part of Moffat's Corners, located at the present-day intersection of St. Clair and Victoria Park Avenue. The present day neighbourhood began to take its shape in the 1950s, when farm fields were replaced by rows of houses. It was one of the first parts of Scarborough to be developed as a Toronto suburb. The community takes its name from the Clairlea Public School, which opened in 1951. Today it is a middle income neighbourhood that features affordable homes and mature, family-friendly streets. The homes found here include small bungalows, modest storey-and-a-half houses and two-storey detached homes. The housing located on streets north of St. Clair are fairly uniform in style but the residential pocket south of St. Clair features smaller, older houses. The Warden Woods Ravine is the landmark of the neighbourhood, offering a great spot for walks and recreation.
